We decided to go with subtle natural colours for the logo and branding for Underhill Cottage, this was to signify the peaceful and calm surroundings of the property. Since the garden was a big feature of the cottage, we wanted to incorporate wild flowers into the boarder and logo. The customer mentioned wildlife can be seen from the garden and told us about some of the Cumbrian wild birds. We decided to use a curlew bird as the main image since this bird often frequented the garden. The customer was very happy with the results and asked for the logo to be made into business cards. These would be given to her customers and would be a pleasant reminder of the holiday.
Once we had the new branding completed it was a great starting point for the rest of the website. We knew we wanted to use the same colours and style of the logo throughout the site because it suited the property so well. After discussing the website with the customer we decided that the home page was the place to draw people in. We added the best images of the property to the home page and listed all of the key facilities.
We talked with the customer about how people generally arrive at their existing site, how people interact with it, and discussed what was important to their customers. This allowed us to gain an understanding of what aspects of the property should be used to convert visitors, into customers.
After looking at other local b&b and holiday rental sites with the customer, we decided that something simple but elegant would work really well. After constructing the home page, the customer was very happy with the style and layout.
Once the customer was 100% happy with the home page we then created the inner pages. The customer specified a large gallery and detailed information about each room. The new website now has everything they need to promote and sell their property, with clear images, a clear call to action and the perfect style to match the cottage.
